How to play the Dsus4 chord on guitar
Dsus4 puts the pinky on the 1st string at the 3rd fret, a note that wants to fall back to D.
The 3D hands holding Dsus4. Switch to 0.5× and turn the guitar to see each finger.
Where the fingers go
- Index finger (1) on the G (3rd) string, fret 2.
- Ring finger (3) on the B (2nd) string, fret 3.
- Pinky finger (4) on the high E (1st) string, fret 3.
- Let D (4th) ring open.
- Do not play low E (6th) and A (5th).
Notes in the chord: D – A – G
Tips
- From D, swap the middle finger on the 1st string for the pinky one fret higher, then go back: D – Dsus4 – D is the classic folk move.
- Leave the index and ring fingers where they are.
- Strum from the open 4th string.
